Astronomical Centre Rijeka celebrated World Space Week and International Children's Week.
This year's World Space Week took place during October 6 – 10, and its' theme was Discovery. Through interactive presentations and films, all visitors found out about exploration of Solar system; missions on Mars, spacecrafts on the Moon's surface and probe's comet landing were some of the subjects that were shown in this year's program. On this occasion, Centre started showing new interactive presentation Space missions.
The schedule during World Space Week and International Children's Week:
- Tuesday, 6.10. at 6 pm: Discovering Universe – 15 min. interactive presentation before film Mission: Mars;
- Wednesday, 7.10. at 6 pm: Discovering Universe – 15 min. interactive presentation and Space missions – 45. min. interactive presentation;
- Friday, 9.10. at 7.30 pm Discovering Universe - 15 min. interactive presentation and A guide to the night sky - 45. min. interactive presentation.; at 8.30 pm Discovering Universe – 15 min. interactive presentation and Space missions – 45. min. interactive presentation;
- Saturday, 10.10. u 7.30 pm Discovering Universe – 15 min. interactive presentation before film Back to the Moon: For Good.
World Space Week is an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition. With more than 70 nations participating, and nearly 1,600 events, World Space Week is the largest annual space event on Earth.
Astronomical Centre Rijeka is participating as of 2011, and until today, visitors could: see a photography exhibition about Yuri Gagarin and his historical space flight, listen to the lecture on dangerous meteorological events prediction by physics professor Ivan Toman and also see presentation of Team Stellar's project, Baloon Stellar – Stratosphere as weel as keep track on Team's participation in international competition Google Lunar X Prize.

New interactive presentation Space missions mentions the newest success in exploration of celestial objects in Solar system. Presentation mentions spacecraft „Messenger“, which explores planet Mercury from the orbit and brining its mission successfully to the end; the same is with the mission „Dawn“, after successful visit to asteroid Vesta, it is time to explore dwarf planet Ceres for the first time. Presentation shows the exploration of a comet 67/P Churyumov-Gerasimenko with spacecraft „Rosetta“ and probe „Philae“, as well as exploration of a dwarf planet Pluto with spacecraft „New Horizons“.
Each day during World Space Week and International Children's Week, before program at planetarium, a 15-minute presentation Discovering Universe will be shown. It mentions the most interesting discoveries such as quasar quartet, developing young galaxy, discovery of Kepler 452-b, exstrasolar planet like Earth, and young, Jupiter-sized, extrasolar planet.
